Tanabata Festival (Star Festival)

On my university exchange to Japan I've been to many traditional Festivals(matsuri) in Japan. I found them overwhelming and impressive and different to anything I've ever experienced before so I thought I would like to make a film that conveys the atmosphere and sort of spirit of a festival.

My favorite festival is Tanabata. Here are some photos of Tanabata 2010 in Hiratsuka which I use as reference. There is colourful decoration and live music and street performances everywhere.
The Story of Tanabata:
Tanabata is a star festival that is based on an acient legend. There are different versions of the legend. It is the story about a weaver princess and cowherd (both representing stars). Because of their love they neglect their duties and thus are being seperated by river which is represented by the milky way. However every year on the 7th day of the 7th month they are allowed to see each other. So tanabata celebrates the reunion of two stars.
